Zachary was born and raised in Toronto and received his Honours Bachelor of Arts from York University. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor, before joining Grillo Barristers P.C. as an Articling Student in July 2016.
During law school, Zachary got to develop his advocacy skills at Community Legal Aid (‘CLA’). At CLA, he worked as a caseworker, summer student, and finally a Group Leader during his final year of study as he helped provide access-to-justice to the Windsor-Essex community. Zachary got to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice several times, including on a two-day long criminal trial. Zachary also appeared at the Landlord and Tenant Board, most notably in September 2015 when he successfully persuaded the tribunal to award mental distress damages to fairly compensate a client whose pet dog suffered an injury. Uniquely, this decision has since been reported on CanLii and can now be accessed online at 2015 CanLii 85072.
Academically, Zachary earned the second highest grade in his Trust Law section and received recognition for his research paper written on a topic within the area of International Humanitarian Law.
Zachary can speak Portuguese. In his free time he enjoys being with family and friends. His faviourite hobbies include reading, travelling, playing soccer, and following professional sports.
