This includes complying with <strong>mandated laws and reducing dangerous riding behaviours<\/strong> that could lead to further apportionment of fault.<\/p>\n<p>For example, it is imperative as a motorcycle rider that you wear a helmet and appropriate gear. Not only are helmets shown to statistically and significantly reduce the likelihood of serious skull and head injuries and death, but they are also <strong>mandated by law<\/strong>. Under the Highway Traffic Act Section 104(1), anyone who operates a \u201cmotorcycle or motor assisted bicycle\u201d is required to wear a helmet with a fastening chin strap. Failure to do so will likely lead to an assessment of contributory damages in your claim.<\/p>\n<p>We also suggest that motorcyclists take the utmost care while operating their vehicle on the road. This includes being respectful of the rules of the road. Furthermore, reducing driver negligence by reducing driver distractions are also important factors to consider.
