News: 69-year-old woman killed in pedestrian crash in Markham 

MARKHAM, ON – A 69-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian crash that happened along Markham Park Monday, CBC reports.

A driver of a minivan had struck the 69-year-old female pedestrian as she was crossing the intersection of Markham Road and Elson Street. York Regional Police and EMS crews rushed to the scene around 8 a.m.

Ambulance personnel transported the woman to a trauma centre. She was initially in serious condition and later died from her injuries.

The minivan driver stayed at the scene. Officers shut down Markham Road from Denison Street to Steeles Avenue East.

The exact cause of the collision is under investigation.
