Motorcyclist sent to hospital after crash on Hwy 401 in Scarborough

TORONTO, ON – One person was injured due to a motorcycle collision Wednesday evening on Highway 401 in east Toronto’s Scarborough district, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division.

At the time of the initial report, which was posted on X at 7:34 p.m., all eastbound collector lanes past Port Union Road were shut down, with traffic being diverted onto the express lanes.

Officials have not indicated what led up to the accident or whether another driver may have been involved, but the motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital.


At 8:43 p.m., more than an hour later, the OPP announced the reopening of eastbound collector lanes and reported that the rider’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

No pending charges or citations have been confirmed as of this writing.
