News: 1 dead following six-vehicle collision at Scarborough intersection

TORONTO, ON — A six-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in the Scarborough district of Toronto has claimed one life and left four other people injured, one critically, according to Global News.

The accident happened at the intersection of Markham Road and Milner Avenue, prompting a response from Toronto Police at about 6:30 a.m.

According to witnesses at the scene, one vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with several other vehicles. The impact reportedly caused at least one of the involved vehicles to flip over and catch fire.

Two men were transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition, where one of them succumbed to their injuries, confirmed officials.

First responders also took two other victims to the hospital for minor injuries, and the fifth patient was released after receiving treatment at the scene.

All travel lanes across the intersection were blocked as officials processed the scene and initiated an investigation.
