News: 15-year-old boy dies following pedestrian crash in Vaughan

VAUGHAN, ON — At least two drivers were involved in a pedestrian crash Thursday morning in Vaughan that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy, according to CBC.ca.

The fatal incident took place at the corner of Weston Road and Villa Royale Avenue at about 7:24 a.m.

While details remain limited, a preliminary investigation by York Regional Police suggests the boy was walking to school and was in the roadway when he was hit by the first vehicle. The impact of the crash sent the teen a short distance away, where he was hit by a second vehicle shortly after.

The victim, who was found severely injured and lying in the roadway, was transported to a nearby trauma hospital. Officials said he later succumbed to his injuries.

While both drivers remained at the scene after the event, authorities have not shared any information about the involved parties or vehicles.

Weston Road from Maria Antonia Road to Davos Road/Ashberry Boulevard was shut down as officials tended to the scene. Officials said they anticipated a series of closures throughout the afternoon.

An investigation remains in progress.
