News: 3 women killed, 2 men critically hurt in 2-vehicle crash in Pickering 

PICKERING, ON – Three women were killed and two men were left in critical condition as a result of a two-vehicle crash that happened on Highway 7 Tuesday. 

According to Toronto City News, the events unraveled around 7 p.m. near Concession Road 6 when the 64-year-old man from Markham was driving west on the highway and drifted into the eastbound lanes, causing him to crash into an eastbound SUV. 

The impact of the collision led the eastbound SUV driver to succumb to her injuries. She was identified as an 82-year-old woman from Port Perry, Ontario. 

Two other women, from the westbound SUV, lost their lives. They were identified as a 63-year-old woman from Markham and a 68-year-old woman from Scarborough. Police said they were backseat passengers. 

The two surviving occupants were the 64-year-old Markham man and his front seat passenger, a 70-year-old man from Scarborough. EMS crews took both men to the hospital. 

Officers indicated that all drivers wore their seatbelts. Police are continuing to evaluate why the westbound driver lost control of his vehicle.
