News: Authorities search for man involved in hit-and-run on DVP in East York

TORONTO, ON — A woman received treatment for minor injuries and was arrested early Tuesday after trying to flee the scene of a crash in Toronto’s East York district, reports Global News.

Toronto Police responded to the northbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway near Don Mills Road some time after 3:19 a.m.

According to investigators, a driver in a Dodge Ram pickup truck with New York licence plates fled an attempted traffic stop. Not long after, the Dodge hit a guardrail while exiting the parkway and the vehicle’s two occupants, a man and a woman, ran away from the scene on foot.

Officers were able to arrest the woman, who was treated for injuries considered minor.

At the time of the report, the Don Valley Parkway was open to motorists but the scene on the ramp remained active.

An investigation and search for the male suspect remain in progress.
