News: Car plunges into Ashbridges Bay, claiming woman’s life

TORONTO, ON – A car plunged into the Ashbridges Bay, which claimed a woman’s life and injured five other people Sunday.

Toronto Police and Fire Crews were dispatched to the scene around 9:30 p.m., according to Global News. Once emergency personnel arrived, they said one person managed to escape from the submerged vehicle and stayed put on top of the vehicle’s roof.  The other person, however, was still trapped inside and warranted a rescue from fire crews.

Firefighters were able to bring the submerged car occupants – a woman and a man — to shore and then rushed them to a hospital. The woman would go on to succumb to injuries, while the man and four emergency officials would receive medical attention or treatment.

Police did not state the woman’s age or place of residence or provide an update on the physical conditions of the surviving occupants.
