News: Car strikes utility pole in Toronto, sending man to hospital

TORONTO, ON – A man traveling inside a moving car was sent to the hospital after the driver lost control of the steering wheel and struck a barrier and utility pole Friday.

This solo collision happened on eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard near Ontario Drive, along Marilyn Bell Park, according to CTV News Toronto. After the car made contact with the pole, that pole came tumbling down and crashed right on top of the vehicle.

First responders said the car received “extensive damage,” and the driver is recovering from serious wounds. Crews had to close all of the eastbound lanes for the standard investigation and scene clearance procedure.

Police are working to determine if speed played a role in this crash.
