News: Driver charged after fiery truck crash on Hwy. 401 in Scarborough 

SCARBOROUGH, ON – A tow truck driver was charged with careless driving and hospitalized after a fiery truck crash that happened on Highway 401 West Thursday. 

Toronto City News said the events unraveled around 1 a.m. when the tow truck driver, hauling a tractor-trailer, crashed into a guardrail end treatment, which caused the tow truck to overturn and catch on fire. 

First responders rushed the tow truck driver to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Transportation crews shut down the collector westbound and transfer to the express lanes in the area of Morningside Avenue to Neilson Road for several hours. 

The majority of lanes reopened by 9:30 a.m. The only lane that remained closed was the left collector lane and transfer to the express. 

All lanes reopened after 12 p.m.
