News: Driver of stolen car causes North York injury crash with bus

NORTH YORK, ON – A person operating a stolen BMW at a high rate collided with a TTC city bus, causing the car to catch on fire and injuring nine people Monday.

This collision happened before 2 a.m. in the area of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue and left the white BMW X6 totaled, reports CBC.

The impact of this wreck caused the bus to spin out of control and face northbound and eject one of the passengers, a woman. Due to the BMW catching fire, fire crews had to extricate the four car passengers. The bus driver, four of the bus passengers, and four of the BMW occupants were all hospitalized.

Police said out of four of the BMW passengers, two were left in serious/critical condition.

Preliminary details show that a black SUV not involved in the crash was also speeding alongside the BMW and was able to proceed through the intersection before the red light came on. Police are working to investigate details with regard to this indirect vehicle and pinpoint more of the details behind this wreck.

Officers shut down the area for several hours before reopening all lanes.
