News: Fiery solo crash claims 4 lives, injures woman in Toronto

TORONTO, ON – Four people lost their lives, and a woman was seriously injured when a Tesla driver crashed into a guardrail and caught on fire Thursday.

This solo collision happened after midnight in the vicinity of Lake Shore Boulevard East and Cherry Street in the Distillery District, according to Toronto City News. Police said the impact of this wreck caused the EV battery to catch on fire, leading the driver to suffer wounds.

Good Samaritans saw what unfolded and rushed to the aid of the car occupants before first responders arrived. Eyewitnesses were able to help a woman escape the burning vehicle. Emergency crews confirmed she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities shut down Lake Shore Boulevard between Cherry Street and Don Valley Parkway.
