News: Hit-and-run crash in Mississauga sends officer to hospital

MISSISSAUGA, ON – A hit-and-run motorcyclist caused a serious collision that sent a police officer to a hospital Tuesday, CBC reports.

The events unraveled before 3:30 p.m. near Eglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway. There, the motorcyclist had crashed into a uniformed officer who was trying to arrest him. After striking the officer, the motorcyclist fled from the collision scene on his bike.

EMS crews rushed to the scene and transported the officer to the emergency room for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers said the motorcyclist was wearing black pants, a black sweater, and a black helmet at the time of the crash. Police believe the hit-and-run suspect is 15 to 20 years old and are in the process of looking for him.

Anyone who has more information on the suspect or on the collision is asked to contact the police department as soon as possible.
