TORONTO, ON – A 34-year-old man was hospitalized with critical injuries late Monday night, May 19, after being struck by a vehicle in Toronto’s east end, according to CP24.
Toronto Police said the incident took place in the Leslieville neighborhood, near Queen Street and Jones Avenue, just before 12:00 a.m.
Nearby surveillance cameras captured footage of the victim using a crosswalk to cross Queen Street when he was hit by what appears to be a white sedan as it turned left onto the street from Jones Avenue. The same vehicle was then seen fleeing the scene without stopping.
First responders rushed the male pedestrian to a local trauma centre where they were listed in life-threatening condition.
An investigation remains in progress.
