News: OPP dispatched to crash on ON-48 in the Town of Georgina

GEORGINA, ON — Part of Highway 48 was blocked in both directions near the Town of Georgina’s Sutton West community following a crash Friday morning, according to OPP GTA Traffic.

The incident was reported on a span of ON-48 from High Street to Old Homestead Road. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene shortly before 4:47 a.m.

At the time of the initial report, officials had not shared any details about the circumstances of the crash or announced an estimated clearance time, but commuters were warned of potentially long delays.

By 8:22 a.m., more than 3.5 hours later, the scene was cleared and all lanes were restored to traffic.


No injuries and/or hospitalizations have been confirmed following the event.
