TORONTO, ON – A man in his 20s, who was said to have stolen a Honda Accord, had allegedly ran a red light causing a fiery collision with two buses that put him in critical condition.
The events unfolded before 5 a.m. when the Honda driver, who was reportedly speeding on the eastbound lanes of Eglinton Avenue collided with one TTC bus going north, Toronto City News said. The impact caused the Honda to catch on fire and the first bus to plow head-on into the second bus, which significantly damaged the buses front bumpers.
The first bus driver and the two passengers on board received treatment for injuries deemed non-life-threatening. However, it is unclear if they required a trip to a hospital.
Paramedics evaluated the second bus driver for physical pain but reported no wounds.
TTC and the Toronto Police Department are collaborating on this investigation and have not provided additional information.
