News Update: Woman, 46, ID’d in fatal Toronto auto-pedestrian crash

TORONTO, ON – A 46-year-old female pedestrian who passed away in a Monday-night crash in the area of Annette Street and Pacific Avenue has been identified, CBC reported.

Additional details from police reveal that the woman, identified as 46-year-old Julia Cleveland, a well-known jazz musician, was walking with a 50-year-old man when they were struck by a Hyundai Tucson driven by a 34-year-old woman.

Prior to the Tucson colliding with the pedestrians, a driver of a Hyundai sedan, a 57-year-old man, had struck the Tucson, which caused the Tucson to then hit the walkers.

First responders took the 57-year-old man to a hospital for minor wounds, while both drivers, who remained at the scene, were spared from physical harm.

Police noted that several good samaritans rendered aid to Cleveland and the other unidentified pedestrian. However, despite their best efforts, Cleveland passed away at the collision site.

While speed is still a speculating contributing factor, authorities haven’t said if one of the drivers had ignored one of the traffic lights prior to the wreck.

Authorities ask anyone with more information about Monday’s crash to contact the police department at the phone number listed in the source.
