News: Woman, 35, killed in crash with tractor-trailer on Hwy. 401

TORONTO, ON – A woman was killed in a rear-end crash with a semi-truck between Ajax and Whitby early Monday, according to CTV News.

Police say a car was heading east on Highway 401 near Lake Ridge Road at about 8:45 a.m. when it slowed for unspecified reasons and was rear-ended by the semi-truck. The initial impact caused the trailer to separate from the truck’s cab, spilling debris across the roadway.

Paramedics rushed the driver of the car, an unidentified 25-year-old woman, to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later on.

It is unclear whether the truck driver sustained injuries in the wreck. Our team will update this news blog as any further details come to light.
