News: Woman hit, critically hurt by pickup truck in Scarborough crosswalk

TORONTO, ON – According to the Toronto Police Service, a 24-year-old woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a pedestrian crash in Toronto’s Scarborough district.

The incident took place at the corner of McCowan Road and Finch Avenue East, near the Woodside Square shopping center, at around 10:20 p.m.

Officials said the woman was on foot and using a crosswalk to travel from the southeast corner of Finch Avenue to its northeast corner. A 27-year-old man was operating a white Ford pickup truck heading southbound on McCowan Road when he began making a left turn onto Finch Avenue East. Moments later, the Ford hit and critically injure the female pedestrian.

It’s unclear at this time whether the driver is expected to be charged or cited, but he remained at the crash site.
