MISSISSUAGA, ON – A 38-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were taken to a trauma centre after a two-vehicle crash that happened in the East Credit district Saturday.

CTV News said the collision happened before 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Mavis Road and Eglinton Avenue West. EMS crews rushed the woman and man, who were drivers, to the area hospitals for treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries.

Transportation personnel and Peel Regional police stayed behind and issued a several-hour shutdown for eastbound Eglinton Avenue West at Heatherleigh Avenue and northbound Mavis Road at Huntington Ridge Drive.

During the road closures, crews cleaned up debris from the collision and removed the affected vehicles. All lanes reopened by 11 a.m.
