TORONTO, ON — One person was hospitalized for serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in the Etobicoke area of west Toronto, according to CTV News.
Authorities said the pedestrian collision took place near Sixteenth Street and New Toronto Street, shortly after 3:20 p.m.
An early investigation indicates the victim may have attempted to slow down the vehicle, which was speeding, before they were struck.
Toronto Police Operations have not yet confirmed the circumstances of the incident, but the pedestrian’s injuries, while serious, are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The driver stayed at the scene following the event. It’s unclear whether they will face charges.
Crews had part of Sixteenth Street blocked off to accommodate an investigation, which remains active.
