News: Child fatally struck by school bus in Kleinburg residential area

KLEINBURG, ON – A 6-year-old boy died Wednesday morning, June 19, following a pedestrian crash in Kleinburg involving an Ontario school bus, according to Global News.

The fatal incident took place in a residential neighborhood near Pierre Berton Boulevard and Kleinburg Summit Way, at about 8:00 a.m.

An investigation remains underway, but officials said the school bus was picking up children in the area for school at the time. It’s unclear how the child came to be hit by the vehicle.

York Regional Police initially reported that the boy had suffered “life-threatening injuries.” More than 30 minutes later, officials confirmed that the victim had been pronounced deceased.

The bus driver, who stayed at the scene following the crash, cooperated with authorities and was assessed by EMS. No charges have been reported at this time.

Anyone who may have information or whose cameras may have captured footage of the event is urged to contact investigators.
