News: Elderly pedestrian dies after North York right-turn crash

NORTH YORK, ON – A driver of a trash truck was making a right turn when they struck an 81-year-old woman crossing the street, leading to the lady’s death Tuesday. 

The crash happened before 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Collinson Boulevard, according to CBC News. 

Toronto Police said the woman was walking in the northbound direction at the time of the wreck. Good samaritans saw what unfolded and immediately went to assist the woman. Individuals conducted CPR on the senior citizen. However, she shortly passed away. 

The truck driver remained at the scene. Police have not been able to confirm if he would face charges. 

Authorities shut down Wilson Avenue between Bathurst Street and Laurentia Crescent for the standard scene clearance and investigation.
