News: Man, 18, killed in pedestrian-train collision in East York

TORONTO, ON – An 18-year-old man’s life was claimed in a pedestrian-train collision in East York on Tuesday, CTV News reports.

The incident happened before 10:30 p.m. off Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street. The young man was walking with a woman when he noticed two trains coming in opposite directions. The man jumped out of the way to avoid getting struck, but was ultimately hit by the train and died from his injuries.

The woman was injured, police confirmed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
