TORONTO, ON – A 32-year-old man was identified as a suspect in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a male pedestrian last Friday, March 6, in North York.
The incident unfolded before 7 p.m., CTV News reports. The suspect has been identified as Walter Omar Montes De Oca Munoz from King City.
Preliminary details show that Montes De Oca Munoz was driving an Acura MDX on westbound Steeles Avenue when he reportedly disobeyed a traffic signal and crashed into a Volkswagen Tiguan.
The Volkswagen driver, a 19-year-old woman, was trying to turn left onto Gerry Fitzgerald Drive when she collided with the Acura.
De Oca Muonz lost control of the Acura and crashed into a pole, which fell onto a 62-year-old male pedestrian.
De Oca Munoz fled the scene of the crash prior to Toronto Police’s arrival.
The male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
As of this writing, Munoz is wanted for failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death and dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death. He is 5-foot-7 with a muscular build and dark brown hair.
