News: Man charged after collision involving big rig in Mississauga

MISSISSAUGA, ON – A 45-year-old man was charged with careless driving after a collision involving a big rig on Highway 401 on Friday, CBC said.

Preliminary details show that the 45-year-old man, who was driving a passenger vehicle, crashed into an “end treatment.” This is a divider that separates the express lanes from the collector lanes, Ontario Provincial Police explained.

After the 45-year-old man crashed into that “end treatment,” he crashed into a big rig, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed into a concrete median.

The force of the collision caused concrete to fall over the express lanes. Crews and police shut down the express lanes near Winston Churchill Boulevard for the scene clean-up process.

By 9:30 a.m., officials reopened all lanes. The 45-year-old man was left with minor injuries, while the truck driver appeared to have been uninjured.
