News: Multi-vehicle wreck in Whitby claims 1 life, leaves 1 injured

WHITBY, ON — Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that claimed a life early Saturday on Highway 401 in Whitby, according to OPP Highway Safety Division.

The accident took place on the westbound highway at Thickson Road (Exit 412) and was first recorded by the Ontario Provincial Police HSD at 3:36 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate three vehicles were involved in the incident, which resulted in the death of one driver.

Another driver who suffered minor injuries was transported to a local hospital.

It’s unclear what led up to the event and whether anyone is expected to be charged, but an investigation by the Toronto OPP remains ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is urged to call investigators at 905-668-3388.
