News: Suspected impaired driver arrested after wrong-way crash on Hwy 407 in Vaughan

VAUGHAN, ON – A 39-year-old local resident was charged with operation while impaired Thursday morning following a wrong-way crash in Vaughan, reports Global News.

The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of Highway 407 near Dufferin Street. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene at about 6:10 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate that the suspect was driving an SUV eastbound in the westbound highway when their vehicle collided with a pickup truck.

Officials said the driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether they had to be taken to a hospital.

The driver of the SUV, who was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and dangerous operation.
